Everything that we do—from our trips to workshops and events––is driven by one question. How can adventure help us become happier, more fulfilled and productive versions of ourselves? Our experiences are designed for self-discovery, wellness, and connection.

What is your community like?

We are diverse by design. Our community is 60% female and 40% male. They range from 22 to 45 years old, with the average being 27. They range from experienced startup founders to solo entrepreneurs to freelance creatives to social changemakers to corporate professionals making their mark on the world. They are not defined by what they do, but by their desire to get the most out of life and to make a net positive impact they want to create on the world and people around them.

Our community varies from new travelers looking to dip their toes into world exploration to independent explorers looking for adventurous company.

What kind of travel experience do I need?

How are you different from other travel groups?

We passionately believe in diversity and inclusion in travel. This means that we consciously design experiences for and with people who have traditionally been underrepresented in travel. We start from the top down––from making sure people of color and women lead from the front to working with Experience Leads with a long history of creating inclusive communities.

How do you create authentic, local experiences?

We invest our time in curating and forming relationships with local experts. Our travelers get authentic experiences off the beaten path, and the majority of our money goes back to the local people and places we visit (and not foreign-owned businesses). Win-win.

How do you curate your community?

There are a million and one travel services out there. Trust us, we know. The thing that makes us different is our curation process. We do this through our online community and local in-person events. So before you even step foot onto a car, a bus, a plane, or boat--you will have interacted with someone from our team or other Map&Mover’s to make sure that our values and travel styles align.

I don’t usually like to travel with groups. Is Map&Move for me?

We call ourselves group travel for independent travelers. We know the value of solo exploration as well as group discovery so we create flexible itineraries designed for people to go off-script. Want to veer off on your own for a surf lesson? Go ahead! Want to check out the local market? We'll tell you our favorite vendor. It's the benefit of solo exploration, with the support and safety of like-minded travelers.

How big are your trip sizes?

Our international trips tend to be 8-12 people and our bigger, local trips are around 20-35 people. This has been our formula for keeping group sizes small enough to form meaningful bonds, but big enough to meet an array of people.

We value comfort and safety and the benefits of staying local. We typically offer a variety of homestays, boutique hostels, and bed and breakfasts. Depending on location, rooms are usually shared with the option of upgrading to a private room. We let you know your options in advance.
